The Krackow Company pairs your custom orders with very highly skilled artists.  The bowyers, arrowmakers, and accessory artisans have been selected very carefully and are recognized in archery circles for their skill and integrity.  The Krackow Company does not hold its own inventory but operates on a drop-ship basis.  Merchandise is sent directly from the maker, with The Krackow Company as the expediter.

Most of the equipment in this catalogue is custom-made to the particular specifications of the archer.  This means that the customer must plan ahead, usually by one to three months and sometimes even longer.  Fine works of sculpture take time; with bows there is the added demand of action, power, and availability of materials.  Sometimes a master bowyer will devote two months to a bow before the weakness of a particular stave will be revealed.  He or she must start all over again.  Thinking a year ahead for a special gift, birthday, or holiday ensures satisfaction and avoids disappointment.

Standard items such as the non-customized youth bows and childrenís sets and most books and prints can all be mailed upon order.

Mr. Gray has made every effort to know the bowyers and their products first-hand.  He owns and enjoys shooting a good number of the bows in this catalogue, and has visited many of the bowyers in order to see them in their work settings and know the people and their products personally.  In nearly every case, he has examined and test shot the artistís work.  After custom orders are received at The Krackow Company, some extended telephone exploration will often be necessary in order to ensure your satisfaction.

Gabel Arrow Orders:Full payment with order.

1.Arrow length is determined by the distance between the back of the field point (or broadhead) to the throat of the nock.  Japanese Ya length is determined by the distance between the hollow of the throat to the tip of the longest finger (when arm is held straight out to the side) plus 2 inches.

2.Spine weight is determined by using a bow scale, drawing the bow to your draw length.  It is a rule of thumb measurement, usually expressed in a five-pound range (for example, 50-55#).

NoteIf the release style is sharp the estimate should be raised slightly.  If the release is somewhat softer, the estimate should be lowered slightly.

NoteThese arrows are either single- or barrel-tapered (please specify).  These arrows are more tolerant of draw weight than are parallel shafts, so spine weight is slightly less critical.

NoteJapanese Ya are not made according to spine weight, but rather physical weight.  Lighter arrows are for lighter bows, etc.  Please indicate your yumi draw weight.

3.Fletching styles available are full-height flu-flu (for aerial shootingó either three- or six-fletch), parabolic, shield, or Japanese.  All fletch is straight and applied either same-color cock feather up or out (please specify).

4.Arrow design and colors are determined with customer input.  A bow can be closely matched, or a fairly specific color (or colors) may be requested, paints or stains.

5.Single arrows or pairs must be taken from stock on-hand.  Please visit our web site at http://www.krackow.com for available stock.  (Individual and specifically designed art arrows are sometimes offered, and will also be shown on the web.)
